Within Sixth Form we aim to support all students to achieve their full potential whatever their programme of study or post 18 ambitions. Each year students move into a wide range of university courses, various apprenticeship opportunities and directly into employment. Every step of the way you are supported by the Sixth Form pastoral team and dedicated careers advice.
During your time in Sixth Form you will experience an increase in accountability for your own learning. Most noticeably you will have some ’free time’ on your timetable where you are able to manage your increasing work load. You will also experience longer lessons (2 sessions a day) and a greater emphasis on independent learning. Importantly through our registration system we are able to track your success in lessons and support you quickly if you run into any difficulties. Mrs Plimbley our dedicated student support worker is there to help you throughout each day and provides a structured academic mentoring programme for students where appropriate.
More information can be found in our handbook which details some of the key features of Sixth Form life here at St Thomas More.
